Blurb
“Audacious and terrifying—and uncannily believable.”

—Lee Child

New York Times bestselling author of the Jack Reacher series, Lee Child, was blown away by The Breach—and you will be, too! A novel of unrelenting suspense and nonstop surprises, The Breachimmediately rockets author Patrick Lee into the V.I.P. section of the thriller universe. A treat for Jack Bauer (“24”) fans and “X-Files” aficionados, it is a white-knuckle roller-coaster ride that combines the best of Dean Koontz and Michael Crichton with a healthy dollop of Indiana Jones thrown into the mix—the perfect secret agent/government conspiracy/supernatural adventure.

My thoughts

Before reading this review, I want you to know that this book is not an ordinary Science Fiction novel - it is so much more.
When the book was first recommended to me, I was skeptical. To be honest, I am more into reading Fantasy, historical fiction and YA books. But still, I wanted to give it a try.
Just by reading the blurb, I was captivated: How wrecked does the author consider humanity to be for a scenario to take place like this? After reading about a hundred pages, I couldn´t put it down. I loved this world of uncertainty and dangers, e.g. nuclear bombs. What do you do facing apocalypse? I think this book is more of a social experiment than a normal book. Even after turning the last page, I couldn´t stop thinking about what I might have done. Isn´t that what a good book is all about? To make us think?
The characters are authentic and as down-to-earth as people losing their entire world could possibly be. I couldn´t pick a favorite character, to be honest, because the persons seem to be representing social groups not individual characters. But still, I found every single one of them fascinating.
Patrick Lee has a unique style of writing and I think he is one of the few who are truly able to feel what their characters are going through. This is why the words aim right at your heart. Truly magnificent!

Fazit

I´ve never been as excited about a Sci-Fi series the way I am about Patrick Lee´s "The Breach". I can´t wait to read the sequels.
I award this book with:
